Deaf Adults Uncensored
I recorded some footage at the Rock Bottom Brewery in Milwaukee of AG Bell members with appearances from two members of DBC. Check it out!
(Edit - Someone informed me that Sean's last name is Virnig, not Vinig FYI.)

Thanks for sharing your video. Are all you friends? Your party was so interesting! I notice that a girl in pink looks like a member on a deaf community site mydeafmatch.com . Just alike. Maybe not, am not sure...
I thought there may be mini confrontation or something here on this video....it had to do with this word "uncensored" in the title...ha. I watch too many tv shows.
I think it was my first time watching a group of people communicating in cued. I've seen it when they show it to me but never in normal conversation. Cool.
I know there was an asl interpreter at agbell conference but any for cued? or the Cuers just follow with asl terp?
Did the DBC members mingle with the cuers and oral deaf? If so, kudos to them for bridging our communities! I too was fascinated to see cued speech used so rapidly and fluently, and with lots of facial expression too. In other videos of cued speech that I've seen, the situation was more formal so the presenter's face was much less animated. As a deaf, ASL-using person, I greatly rely on those non-manual signals. Thanks for sharing this video, Aaron! Makes me wish I was there.
P.S. Kim who was there to network, is that THE Kim who regularly comments in the blogosphere and whose web site I think is Living the Questions?
Hands flapping in air. Diversity in the d/hh community and embracing that is beautiful!
Hi Aaron, it was fun meeting you. Our discussion was interesting and I hope we can have more of that to gain better understanding of the issues concerning DEAF children today.
Hey, what happened to our deal? In lieu of drinking my tall glass of beer right before closing time, you said you would come to watch MJ Bienvenu the next day. Anyway, it was impressive to watch you drink less than a minute! You surely know how to party! Looks like you owe me one so till next time!
Slina - I knew some of them, but after that night we all left as friends.
Lane - CART was provided along with oral and ASL interpreters, but they couldn't find any available CLTs in the area at the time. I'm gonna make it my mission to make sure they do a more thorough job of finding CLTs, even if it means having to fly someone in from the DC area.
Anon - a few DBC members took it upon themselves to approach AG Bell members, but I only knew of these two in the video and then the ones I chatted with inside Rock Bottom. That is not the same Kim of Living the Questions. Just someone else with the same name.
Barb - sorry I couldn't make it over there. The meeting with the Navkals from India was at the same time, and they wanted to meet deaf cuers. At least MJ lives in the same country so there'll be other chances for me to see her.
Interesting article!!!
How does AGBell budget for accessiblity services? Y'all have to raise money yourselves for that??!
Thanks for sharing this interesting video. It's something different (and interesting, of course!)
:)
That's wonderful you are showing this footage- it is very revealing that we are all for one/one for all. Despite which member you belong to: DBC or AGB.
I think it is sad for people who accused their 'rival' which they are really their ally especially from DBC. Folks from DBC needs to realized that we are all for one- period!
We cannot afford to loose our treasure deaf community especially with all diversities!
Aaron Cutie: Whatever happened to the video?!
You just enraged me. ;-)
Cheers,
R-
